i'm a fool, i have installed it back to front, rough side facing. Because i have cut it with holes for services and cant reverse it. If i skim it with tile adhesive thinly then let dry could i then tile on it ok?

I'm not sure why you think a thin layer of adhesive would stick any better than a thicker layer with a tile on top.

In any case, wouldn't you be invalidating the Knauf warranty?

Surely the lesser of two evils is to scrap the board you've cut and buy another one, and reverse the panels that you haven't cut?

i'm fairly sure the composite of the board changes little throughout.

just tile the rough side as normal.

I thought (but am unsure because I've only used Hardie and not Knauf) that Aquapanel has a mesh layer near one side and not the other.

I'm not implying that this is important, just pointing out that it makes the construction non-uniform.
