Bad Transformer Spot Light in Loft

The well charred terminal also seems to have signs of corosion. Most likely due to moisture condensing out from steam / water vapour coming up through the fitting.

That might have led to a poor joint developing in the terminal block adding even more heat to the problem.

You do with clipping up thos cables a bit. The tranny could be clipped to a joist with a spring clip or two. Clear away some loft insulation to prevent burning again & replace the fittings. Or at least, the SELV lampholders.

Some follow on questions to all
How many lamps are there?

What size does the T&E look to be?

What is the ccc of that T&E at 12V?
