Bargain Generator?

[RF Lighting]

I ended up in my local shed today, where I saw this gen set on sale.

It has a continuous rating of 2kVA, 4 stroke petrol engine.

It would be a nice addition to my tool kit, and having had a snoop on t'internet It beats the price machine mart and screwedfix are offering.

I appreciate it is not going to be the best quality, but for the use it will get it should be fine.

Any opinions?

All I can say is you get what you pay for!! I wouldn't suprised if it can't take much abuse, do you need 110v? Think my generac (honda) 2.2KVA cost about 4x that a few years ago now, but it still runs. Should maybe change the oil sometime .
Still, it's a step up from the tiny 700va jobbies.

Tried Makro? They do a lot of "nutool" stuff.

If they stock it, it'll probably be even cheaper there.

Have you seen the 750va ones at B&Q for £39. I know its a bit ****e but how can they make/sell them for that price?

because, as you say, they're 5h . . . pure 5h. But for single-use applications like DIYers need they are ideal. Disposable generators lol.

Same reason B&Q sell hose 5h radial arm saws and those 5h belt sanders etc. Single use tools. Terrible waste though. They ought to have a hire service - hire out GOOD tools.

If you're talking to me, only on very rare occasion.

I was planning on getting one for occasional site use, and as a backup for the house to keep the boiler etc going if there was a long term power failure.


The plan is to have the gen set sat in my garage, and a changeover swith at my intake position.

I have a great aversion to things containing petrol about the house, especially if people are tempted to top them up from a can when they're hot.

It's a shame diesel gennys are expensive.
