Yes, immigrant demonising propaganda is morally corrupt. But we can't stop it but we can point out what it is to people and ask them to question what they see, do their own research and hopefully they can come to the conclusion themselves.
But if that fails, we can ridicule them for not doing any research at all, before posting their immigrant demonising propaganda.
Asylum support
What you'll get
You can ask for somewhere to live, a cash allowance or both as an asylum seeker.
Housing
You’ll be given somewhere to live if you need it. This could be in a flat, house, hostel or bed and breakfast.
You can’t choose where you live. It’s unlikely you’ll get to live in London or south-east England.
Cash support
You’ll get £37.75 for each person in your household. This will help you pay for things you need like food, clothing and toiletries.
Your allowance will be loaded onto a debit card (ASPEN card) each week. You’ll be able to use the card to get cash from a cash machine.
If you’ve been refused asylum
You’ll be given:
- somewhere to live
- £35.39 per person on a payment card for food, clothing and toiletries

Assuming the asylum seeker gets the cash equivalent for somewhere to rent (average rent in UK £920 per month = £11,000) although unlikely they will get that much. They could be asked to live in the NE, and if they refuse they will not be eligible for the cash equivalent.
But accepting the average UK rental,That leaves £12,000 out of the hypothetical £23,000.
Divided by (£37.75 weekly =) £1963 per annum.
£12,000 divided by £1963 = just over 6.
So the figure of £23,000 is based on a family of 6, taking the potential full cash equivalent of somewhere to rent.
This is for a family of two adults and four children, that have just escaped persecution, maybe penniless, have nowhere to live, compared to a single pensioner who is settled, has somewhere to live, maybe own their own home, maybe have other income/pension, other family around them, friends, etc.
Perhaps gasbag would like to compare how many asylum seekers we have, compared to how many pensioners we have?
Obviously not, gasbag does not do his own research! He prefers the immigrant demonising rhetoric from dodgy web sites.
Even his link debunks the claims:
The House of Commons Library said the claim they checked in 2015, which was spread by email, may have originated from a similar message circulated in Australia.
The
government there subsequently debunked it, but there have also been similar versions in Canada and India with some details changed.
