Fishing was a totemic issue for Brexit voters.
British notions of sovereignty and all that.
Boris made a big deal out of it to get his supporters on board.
There could be the same argument for the Falklands war, the Falklands contribution to UK GDP was miniscule but it still led to war.

What you have to understand is that this is part of the slow erosion of democracy
Mr Anti-Vax ...I tend to find that believing the exact opposite of all you say makes more sense more often than not.

Mr Anti-Vax ..What you need to penetrate that 6inches between your ears is that I find believing the exact opposite of your conspiracy theories makes more sense more often than not.

It was just a non-issue of no importance laid out to excite the nutters and distract attention from the omnishambles.

Compare what EU first offered to what they actually got.

Keeps you going

Which should someone wish to experience the 'luxury' of a holiday, then no doubt that rather than a free system the cost will be probably be more than the average person's yearly EU contribution!
So come on, be honest, when you go abroad to Europe you obviously have your EHIC in case you fall ill but....what do you do about insurance for delays, theft, burglary, missed flights, personal possessions or in the event that you have to be flown home on a stretcher in a private jet accompanied by a medical specialist for treatment in the UK etc etc? Do you and your family just chance it or do you have insurance that covers all those things but not the health element? If so, where do you get? Do tell.

Good point about Falklands.

I suppose fishing was really about an old score needing to be settled.
UK did get rather shafted over fishing when it joined the common market, but UK policy has been the main cause of damage to fishing communities in recent decades.

As it so too was for the EU, otherwise

Not really the same equivalence.

The EU has more leverage so it could afford to be consistent and hold out for the other side to cave in.

The EU were always happy to give a small concession for Boris to sell as a win

The Icelandic cod wars in the 70s

Ships were rammed / collided

Over the caper

You've missed the point.
Among others, john was claiming that Boris was making a fuss about an inconsequential issue.
For that to have any legs, the EU would also have to have done so.
It takes two to argue.
