Brexit shambles, Tory government tries to blame anyone else... anyone!

Brexit shambles prevents Government from doing its job

"Brexit is delaying key pieces of policy and legislation, angering ministers and officials, amid reports of paralysis across Whitehall as the government focuses on solving the current crisis, the Guardian has learned.

Legislation meant to limit the prosecution of soldiers, create an online regulator and curb drug dispensing errors has been held up or postponed as the government tries to gain enough support for a deal to leave the EU.

It comes as Whitehall departments divert senior staff to work on Brexit-related matters in case the UK leaves the EU without a deal."

and

"However, sources said the proposals had been hampered because ministers were failing to engage amid the pressures of Brexit."

At the rate they're resigning, the inexperienced ministers hardly have time to learn how to spell their new department's name.

"It emerged on Saturday that two-thirds of staff employed directly by the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) are working on delivering Brexit, according to official government figures.

As the possibility of a no-deal Brexit has increased, civil servants have spent more time and public money on possible scenarios that may never be needed, with £4bn of taxpayers’ money earmarked for no-deal planning since 2016.

Agencies and departments are meant to be reprioritising work or stopping tasks to accommodate this change – but for the most part ministers are not being clear about which policies they are happy to drop."

Easiest deal in history

“Coming to a free trade agreement with the EU should be one of the easiest in human history.” – Liam Fox, International Trade Secretary, July 2017.

Theresa May’s irony-detector must be off the charts
“It was me that got us into this mess, I will get us out of it.” – Theresa May, June 2017, after calling a snap election and losing her party’s Parliamentary majority.

A 24-hour Brexit
“The day after we vote to leave, we hold all the cards and we can choose the path we want.” – Michael Gove, Secretary of State for Environment, April 2016.

Blimey, how about an instant Brexit?
“Within two years – before negotiation with the EU is likely to be complete and therefore before anything material has changed – we can negotiate a free trade area massively larger than the EU. The new trade agreements will come into force at point of exit.” David Davis, Former Secretary of State for Exiting the European Union, July 2016.

What is with these guys and “holding the cards”?
“Getting out of the EU can be quick and easy – the UK holds most of the cards.” John Redwood, Conservative MP, July 2016.

A call for unity, from a man who just jumped from a sinking ship
“What we’ve got to do as a government and as a parliamentary party is show we are bigger than the sum of our parts. If we take a bit more of that approach – a bit more unity of purpose – we’ll get a great result out of Brexit. We’ll also unite the country.” – Dominic Raab, Departing Brexit Secretary, June 2018.

Another gem from Theresa
“The Conservative party will ensure that we fulfil our duty in ensuring that stability, so that we can all, as one country go forward together.” – Theresa May, June 2017.

sadly for Theresa, the Leader of the Provisional Wing of the Conservative Party, Jacob Rice-Pudd, and his acolytes such as Buffoon, repeatedly attacked her and refused to support her deal.

Even her hired hands in the DUP opposed her, despite their billion-pound bribe.

Along with Corbyn and the other buffoons who have supported the said acolytes

The way UK government works, the government is supposed to have a Majority that enables it to pass its legislation.

A government that can't, has to resign or be voted out.

it is not the job of Her Majesty's Loyal Opposition to provide votes to prop up a government that can't govern.

Unfortunately Theresa was facing two large Opposition parties. Jeremy's and Jacob's, and she chose to capitulate to Jacob's.

A competent Prime Minister might have set up cross-party committes three years ago to seek a consensus on what the country wanted, and what could be achieved, but it's too late now.

Why should a prime minister need to seek a consensus to leave the EU when a majority had voted leave.
The reason the UK is in the mess it is in now is because the PM has been trying to reconcile two diametrically opposed viewpoints by coming up with half-baked ideas which don't have the support of either side.

Stop using that term "bribe" it is very offensive.
If TM wanted the DUPs support she should have reassured them that the only checks at the Irish border would be cheques made out to cash.
