Following a reference to this site in another post, I paid to download the 'Testing Electrical Installations' pdf file.

.....and at a fiver you can't complain...only don't try to print it out 'cos you can't.

You need a password to print it out. I asked for one and was told 'you can't print it out'.

I queried this and was told 'it's clearly explained on the website'. Having scoured the site, I asked 'where exactly' and was directed to having to click a '+' titled 'book breakdown'. Now that is really obvious.

So I just wonder what other duplicitous things they get up to.

Not good page design I agree - and may well not pass the latest Disability Discrimination Legislation.

Just because they say you can't print it, doesn't mean you can't though, should be a devious IT type person :)

A screen grab produces a very poor print image.

Another annoying feature is that all the diagrams are in portrait mode and so to read them you have to stick your head to one side as I've not found out how to rotate them with my software packages.

All-in-all - a waste of a fiver IMO.

bet that if you buy the book, it comes printed with invisible ink.

'What...you mean you want to read the book? Sorry, that's not possible...read the small print'.

I havent, im just suggesting ideas that sometimes work to get round protection on websites. Wasnt sure if it would work on a PDF, now i know!

dummy!

the way to do it is to lie the monitor face-down on the photocopier

actually a devious IT type person would use something like this.

Though it may break any license agreement with the publisher of the PDF in this case, the program is perfectly legal and used by many large companies to remove protection from files, for example, left by employees who have left the company.

One could pm an IT person and see if they happened to have said program, I suppose
