Budget

Highest taxation in 70 years, just to give 18,000 people £14k for having sex.
highest tax in 70 years just because a few hundred wealthy Tories and mates could make a ton of money out of Brexit

highest taxation in 70 years so that a few dozen Tory mates could be given £billions in bogus PPE contracts

highest taxation in 70 years because Owen Paterson got paid £500,000 in taxpayers money because he lobbied for Randox

highest taxation in 70 years because Thatcher flogged 1.5 million council houses and now housing benefit costs £24b a year

So all the big money is going to the millionaires and billionaires but MotoGriftin wants to blame the poor

No labour. They are the ones who have made it worse.

What i don't accept is that the government needed to raise taxes as much as they have.
based on what?

I have to try to run my business based on my costs. If costs go up, i look to make savings before passing on a price increase as if i increase prices i know i run the risk of customers either buying from competitors or not buying at all.
does your business have an increasing number of elderly people needing pension and healthcare?
did your business inherit an NHS waiting list of 8 million?
did your business inherit a prison service in a state of collapse?
did our business inherit an unfunded tax cut -Jeremy Hunt cut NI as a bribe to voters it was not funded, he just made some bogus piffle about "savings"

where would you like the cuts to be made -stop disabled people getting benefits, let em starve?

WRONG

it is Tory destruction coming home to roost

by 2025 brexit has caused the folliwing?

1) reduced Uk gdp by 6% to 8%

2) reduced investment by between 12% and 18%

3) reduced employment by 3% to 4%

4) reduced productivity by 3% to 4%

Stop being a silly sausage and read what he actually said.

you are welcome to share your views - be handy if you read the proposals first.
Im reading the details being sent to me.
It's just tax to offset pollution and congestions caused by driving. Stupid governments come up with daft expensive ways to collect tax.
You do understand EV's don't pay fuel duty, all other cars do. It's different to road taxation
e.g. having people get their mileage checked annually by some poor sod who isn't allowed to go near the spanners.
Probably the best way for now
How is this relevant?

If you don't understand it, then you don't understand how it won't affect all cars.

You know more than me apparantly, so you go find out for yourself.

Funny you mention disabled people's benefits. I think i've mentioned before i have a severely disabled brother who lives in a full time care environment. His care is fully funded by the state from various, complicated sources.

He's just had his benefits reviewed and one of his payments (i think personal independence payment but i'm not sure as its so complex) has just gone up by £200 per month.

Totally unnecessary as he's already fully funded. His accommodation, food, care, clothing and every other need are already fully funded. So why the £2400 per year increase? He didn't ask for it, and won't actually be able to spend it. If my brother has received this, how many other people that don't need it have too?

It's very easy to play the 'you're evil and just want to cut people's benefits' card and therefore ignore the fact that it will be possible to save money on benefits by cutting down on unnecessary and overly generous benefits.

For example, do you think people with mild mental health conditions should be on disability benefits for life with no face to face review? I don't.

I guarantee, if you started looking at the benefits system with an open mind and the mindset that benefits for many people should be short term support to see them through a difficult time and should be sufficient to live on but not generous enough to become a lifestyle choice, there will be massive savings to make.

Surely even the staunchest Labour supporters can't defend this budget!
The shirkers will be worshiping the magic money tree, while the workers will be lamenting the loss of their houses, savings and pensions.
As an aside, I'm sure those good citizens who were lured [by their own good nature] into buying an EV for the sake of the environment, will be spitting feathers after reading about the hefty annual mileage fee.
It really is the most infuriating p*ss take.
Thanks for listening. Lol

I think most Labour supporter will be wondering why another political party never thought of it first.

Well said.

I am lost beyond words how ****ing stupid our government is, taking the money off pensioners for heating was pretty ****ing stupid.

On one side, taxpayers have every penny of their income, expenses, mileage, benefits-in-kind, savings, dividends and pensions scrutinised down to the last digit.
HMRC want it all, itemised, logged, provable, and God forbid you round something up or down. They’ll tax you precisely, audit you precisely, and chase you precisely.

Then on the other side, Child Benefit, taxpayyer money is handed out with zero downstream accountability.
Once it hits the claimant’s account, that’s it. No audit. No reporting. No check.
They can spend it on food, clothes, childcare… or a new telly, a phone upgrade, subscription services, a holiday, paying off a loan, whatever they like.

Government messaging says “this lifts children out of poverty.” WALOB its a laughable insult, as if kids will benefit from this, no they will still get beans on toast or whatever.
Why.. because of course the cash isn’t ring-fenced, isn’t traceable, and isn’t policed.

It’s effectively:
Taxpayers: itemise your life.
Claimants: here’s cash, spend as you please.

To many people, that feels less like a targeted anti-poverty tool and more like the same sort of political fairy tale we’ve been fed before
not unlike the infamous “£350m for the NHS” bus slogan.
A headline promise that doesn’t match the mechanism in reality.

And that’s the frustration:
Working people are micromanaged.
Benefits are not. Yet the narrative pretends the outcome is guaranteed this was a deal done with Factions of the labour party who would otherwise revolt. This is not for the benefit of the country, it's scandalous, just like PPE handouts were etc. Its an outrage and should be reversed.

And at the very least all vouchers are claimable only from a supermarket those claimants have accounts they must use with ID at the checkout and must only be for healthy food categories so that 'poverty stricken' children are given a nutritious start at the very least. They too should be audited and accountable on the money taken from us and given to them.

What do people think about investing 12k in a cash ISA and 8k in a share ISA.

Hedging your bets? Interesting!
I've got equal amounts in a cash ISA and Premium Bonds. Last year my bonds outplayed my 4.8% ISA quite significantly. I like the jeopardy. Lol
