I've heard of people 'building' a sandwich. Not me, I make a sandwich, but I'd 'build' a wall. I think I would 'construct' some decking.

but you cant assemble something you havent got.

you would build a wall, you would get a builder in form a construction co, to do it.

you MAKE something from raw materials,

you BUILD something from component parts.. and raw materials

you ASSEMBLE something from component parts .

they MAKE the bricks from clay and you BUILD a wall with the finished bricks.. and mortar

you MAKE the parts of a table from timber then ASSEMBLE them with glue and nails..

And you swear at MFI, B&Q, and Ikea parts..................

I will try....usually with quite a bit of effort...to build, construct, assemble, put together (not the same as assemble ...of what comes to mind) and will

always

MAKE a mess!.....sometimes a successful mess....but ALWAYS a mess

alternatively, you can simply 'f*ck up' all of the above!...

To build is to raise upwards by construction. Ie you build a house, from the ground up. You don't build a tunnel or a shaft; you dig them or sink them. You build bridges and ships (because the ship starts low). You don't build cars because they start on jigs, like aircraf, si these things are aiether assembled or manufactured (ie made).

Just my take.

to build a bit of furniturure

you select the material

you work/machine the materials into components

you assemble the components into several part

you do the final assembly

so its built assembled and you make it
