Burglar alarm

I have recently had a couple of power cuts and when this happens my burglar alarm goes off and i cant seem to stop it , it does die after a while but in the meantime the nieghbours get jarred off , just wondered what the reason for this is .. Cheers mark

In most cases it means the SLA (sealed lead acid) battery in the main control panel has failed, or occasionally the battery charge fuse.

It is and easy swap. How confident would you feel to remove the panel cover and replace the battery your self?

Thanks RF I would feel confident but one question are there any tamper proof tricks built in if i unscrew the front .. cheers

When you remove the panel cover the alarm will go into tamper (unless you have the engineers code). When the alarm goes off, typing your user code in will silence the alarm, but the system will show tamper until you replace the cover and reset the system.

Really ****es me off when theres a power cut and everyone else's badly maintained burglar alarms start going off.

I train my neighbours that my alarm never goes off by mistake... if it goes off, it's real. Of course, it has to be kept in tip-top condistion.
