I have a lot of sympathy with that view.

The cost of rent is a major part of the increase in work poverty.

Paying rent to a landlord means you are buying them an asset whilst locking your self out from getting on the housing ladder.

I dont blame landlords though, the problem is the way property is used as an investment that is the root of the problem.

Labours idea is not a solution though

No, it is a form of slavery, should hold their heads in shame and if not be severely punished, including confiscation of property, for no recompense.

Dont be afraid to hold back :)

I feel very strongly about it, they are scum

Hardly the same thing, a plumber offers services to people who don't have the knowledge time or skill to fix something, last time I looked everyone was capable of living in a warm secure home (a basic human right) Private landlords especially are bottom feeding low life pond scum as far as I'm concerned, I hope they all go bankrupt.
Ok. Your view seems to be some idealised utopian dream.

Then we confiscate all the property from the Duke of Westminster and his like - most of whom didn't even pay for it in the first place.

I really don't see the difference in offering a service whether it be a property someone has bought or a plumber who has learned a trade and bought tools or a taxi owner who has bought a car and a licence.

Renting is not compulsory.

One property fair enough. Any more than 1 should be slaughtered for it.

Ok, let's no bother doing anything against these parasites.

Why are they parasites any more than any other business?

If someone spends their money on buying a second property rather than setting up any other business or píssing it away in the pub every night, what is wrong with that?

You have a choice to go to the pub, You have a choice to use the services of a business?

You have a choice not to go to the pub, yes, but you do not have a choice in using essential businesses.

Not going to answer why they are parasites, then.

Probably not.

In that case, private landlords are offering an essential service - that is obviously needed.

Perhaps there are too few council houses. We all know who is responsible for that.

Landlords arent the couse of the problem and targeting them as the culprits isnt the solution
