I just wanted to ask a couple of questions about the responsibilites that the above must have, as I am a bit concerned.

1: How many kids are allowed at any one time?
2: If 'said' Childminder has sickness and diah..... cant spell it, the carps, are there any obligations on childminder to not accept kids for a certain period of time?

Would appreciate any advice you may have.

my missus is a child minder so i asked her to clarify,
point 1 depends on what you get registered for it differs depending on size of house, facilities, access ( ie upper flat is more difficult to get 3/4 kids into back gaeden to play) she is registered to have up to 6 in the house at any one time  this includes our own twins as it is all to do with quality of care, so in reality she can have 4 as our own 2 are there at holiday time, of the 6 she can only have 1 under 1 yr old and 3 under 5yr old.
point 2 is all down to duty of care of other kids in the house and if child minder has good contracts with parents a child who is sick is excluded from being there as they may pass the bug to other kids and itr will spread to other members of their family, again contract dependant but if the kids my wife watch are ill she doesnt take them and still gets paid as it isnt her fault she cant take them, the Scottish Childminding Assoc have guideline contracts which cover this type of thing and like everything else if discussed properly at the outset the parent know what has to be paid for, are you having a specific prob?

sorry just re read original post, my missus is self employed so if she is sick and cant take any kids she doesnt charge parents, same as holidays if parents say they are not sending child she gets paid but if she is on holiday she doesnt get paid, but if she was ill but wanted to work it would be up to the parent to decide whether to leave child or not and i suppose that is where arguement is about payment or not, IMHO if child minder has illness they should not take child or charge because if child is ill they should be refused

For all the parents who may have at some time in the future have to write a note to their childs teacher explaining an absence, the correct spelling is DIARRHOEA!.
