Im replacing the lamp holder in the loft with a florescant fitting. A friend has suggested using a click rose for the loop in wiring and then flex up to the fitting.

Can I secure the click rose on a piece of timber fastened to the floor joists with a hole for the cables to come through back entry to the click rose? and will I need a gland on the light fitting for the flex?

Or is this a bit ott??

Thanks muchly!

klik roses usually need to go on a box, so why not use a plastic thru or terminal box.
I would try to use a gland, but if the cable clipped secure a grommet would possibly ok

Yep, just use a conduit box to mount the ceiling rose on.

If you clip your cables upto where they enter the conduit box, this will be fine.
