New to the Olympics but sport climbing has been around for donkeys years and there are World championships etc. Lead climbing is closest to actual rock climbing but it may interest you to know that bouldering is also a real thing. When climbers are on their own or don't have time to complete a full route, they'll go to the nearest crag and practice on difficult low level problems - maybe up to 10 or 12ft off the ground. In many climbing areas you will find huge boulders and some of these can present the most difficult problems, thus the name bouldering. Some of these boulder problems are well known and get included in climbing guide books. The speed thing is purely a climbing wall thing.
