Today I saw a gland that was glued onto the end of plastic conduit. Is there a more suitable way of attaching this? Slightly related, has anyone attempted to thread plastic conduit?

Yes.

You fit a bush end onto the conduit, remove the bush and discard, and screw in gland.

Trying to thread plastic conduit would most likely just split it beyond use.

You can get non threaded glands which glue into a PVC conduit box outlet or coupling, but as the gland is nylon, you can't use solvent cement.

Normally you'd use a female coupler and screw a normal threaded gland into it.
