I'd prefer to have lighter evenings and darker mornings.

So would I.

However, changing the clocks makes no difference to the evening or morning light. What the governments are doing is forcing everyone to get up and go to work/school an hour earlier.

Subtle difference.

Also, why is it end of March until end of October? End of February until end of October or end of March until end of September - almost equidistant from the equinoxes - would be more logical.
