What type of saw would be used for cutting a piece of copper pipe down the middle? This would be about a 4 inch section. Also, I'm not sure I've figured out how to stabilize it so the cut would be straight.

Any help would be appreciated.

i would cut 3/4 the way through each end of a 4" central section bend the ends to right angles down
tighten the ends into the vice [probably till flat]

then saw down the centre with a hacksaw

That's a really good idea and should keep the pipe stable for a straight cut. What is the pick type item for?

actually, I have one but use it for a different purpose! Never knew what it was called or it's use.

Thanks- I hope to get my DH on that task this weekend.
