Hello,

I have had a rental recently given due to a car crash however the other day I noticed a part hanging of under the passenger side, upon inspection the damage looks pretty bad however I know it's not due to me as I've only driven it a couple of times and that type of damage I would have felt.

I believe whoever had the car before .e caused the damage and it had gone unnoticed or covered up.

My concern is I will be losing my excess of 1000 as there was no recorded damage on the car and I did not see it until almost a week later therefore I feel I will be blamed.

Anyone know what I can use to patch it up so the part is not visible.

do not touch it do nothing that is years off decay not your fault
as soon as you touch it if they are dodgy you give them a get out clause
just take loads off pictures and take it back

but wait for others to answer before you do anything

Surely there’s more to this story......?
Is that an undershield that we can see that has been ripped?
For sure, don’t attempt any sort of repair.

The car is 2024 plate with 4000 miles on clock.

I've literally had it swapped for a 118i which was a like form like swap for my car while it gets repairs.

There was no visible damage when I took it.

I've drove it 3 times before I noticed the damage, I've had a lowered car and going over bump s at slight speed you would feel it scrape but nothing like the damage here.

Nothing to the story but the fact I ain't losing my excess for something that isn't my fault but no doubt I will be blamed and I wouldn't be able to prove otherwise.

I'm not sure what it is but it's under the passenger door has a fabric feel and I can see wires in the door/ behind the damaged part.

I've spoken to a friend who works for a similar branch and he said I will be 100% charged my excess as there is no way I can prove it wasn't me.

My car was in a hit and run I only take the car when I go into office 1 day a week and I am extremely careful as it's a brand new high spec car.

Dont need the hassle, any suggestions please as it's just there hanging

My thought was whoever did that damage had taped it or done something to stop the part from hanging as it's not visible then and since I've drove it on the motorway and the weather hasn't been great lately the part come free as we see now.

Obviously you may believe it's me that's caused this which is understandable but there isn't anything I can say further than that. Just had it parked since, but I need a car for work and my car will not be fixed for another two weeks.

the problem you have is why would you touch it ??
reason 1 you did it???
reason two you did not do it and hope the blame will be apportioned to the correct person
or reason 3 you want to pass on the blame to a future innocent person
two requires no tape and honesty 1 and 3 require deception to some extent to avoid blame ??

Inform the rental company immediately and deny any involvement with the damage.
Is this a genuine rental or a courtesy car? I've never known any rental company miss anything at all.
Do not attempt any fix - this indicates guilt to me.
John :)
