Technically no, as you can opt out of having to pay for it by not tuning your TV.

But it'd make much more sense to just roll it into general taxation.

Technically no, as you can opt out of having to pay for it by not tuning your TV.

Its a little more than about detuning, its also watching any live TV & BBC iPlayer via various services , on any device not just a TV , PC, PVR Phone etc,
the TVlicening website is down at the moment for maintenance

Normally I would agree that the BBC are too big for their boots and need defunding.
I don't want to pay for a license (but I do).

What we have to pay is IMHO too much, what we pay in order to be able to pay it monthly is also way too much.
That said - I was only saying to the wife this morning while flicking through the channels - how much better the BBC for dramas and stuff we like to watch is than
the other channels, than other countries channels.

Knock £50 off the fee and I'd be happier.

Out of interest, in France there is no TV licence, except a trifle (121€ p.a.) on the (French equivalent) council tax.

Personally I feel it should be optional, but I'd be more than happy to make up any distributed shortfall in those not wishing to access their excellent services.

42p a day is not much for most, but it's 42p a day for every licence payer, and for the poorest it is a lot.As for gammon, well, the only reason I'm hot is the weather, all this chat is a laugh, only a real saddo would get wound up by it, not me.

I'm waiting for series 2 of gentleman Jack. It's rare for me to anticipate series, but this one I am looking forward to.
