Just imagine for a moment we all agreed to meet up for a summer party somewhere…
No, wait. That falls apart immediately.

“We all agreed.” There’s the flaw. Can some of you ever actually agree on anything? Or are we contractually obliged to take the polar opposite stance at all times? I swear some of you wake up thinking, “Right, what can I disagree with today, or., they are right but fck him/her not admitting it”

Anyway.. back to the fantasy.
I do sometimes wonder what would happen if us forum weirdos met in real life. Would we actually get on? How many of you are who you say you are? There could be a few very “important people” lurking behind these usernames… and a few who are absolute legends in real life but keyboard gladiators online, few of you have made me lol a few times on here.

After a couple of drinks, I reckon half of us would be mates.
So go on then who’s the complete oddball in person? I can think of a few candidates already.

And more importantly… who’s forgetting their wallet and asking to borrow money from the magic money tree?

I definitely believe that many on here feel compelled to be tribal to a greater extent than they would be in real life. Most of those called socialists on here are basically Blairites. And it seems to be a battle between them and Reform voters, with nothing in between and very few willing to compromise.

I’d meet up with anyone on here. I’ve said before, most people aren’t how they come across. Noseall, I could talk about snow and building, highway man, I’d just be in awe.

Colonel plum is probably a laugh too.

Mnw67, I don’t think he’d turn up. I would like him to, but we’d all be a bit rowdy for him.

I'm having a brain fade. Who is Colonel Plum.

You are right that I probably wouldn't turn up. I think meeting everyone would spoil my enjoyment of the forum, one way or another.

I used to be on a very argumentative cycling forum (i'm banned now) anyway, we did have a meet up and ride - it was hilarious, no one was how I imagined, one person who was a total far left lunatic who I never got on with on the forum, was just brilliant in real life, in fact she was a right laugh, a genuine lovely person (of course non of us discussed politics)

Cycling is a great way for people to get along. Nobody has the appetite to argue while coughing up a lung.

That’s what I think a GD meet up could be like. But without the bikes

Maybe a countryside ramble and a few pubs
