Do you drive a manual or auto?

I would rather have my testicles cut off than my gear stick

Seriously though - drive both most days, prefer the manual van to the posh car

what amazes me is; I never make a mistake with clutches and changing gear - but have all manner of problems with opening windws, lights, wipers...

My car is manual. Auto may be my next choice as my Corgi knees are starting to go due to my ancient age!!

Electric cars are a tax on everyone who hasn't got an electric car.
Do you ever stop spewing out your propaganda.

Why don’t you go off and join Reform where you can be amongst similar brainwashed fools

Yaris hybrid with CVT - brilliant, wouldn't go back to manual if I can help it.
I don't think I'd dare let it go out of warranty though - transmission and other mysterious bits and bobs included!

Manual Bipper van

Honda HRV diesel manual.

John :)

Same here with our Tucson hybrid. I doubt I’ll ever be able to fix it if it went wrong. Bloody computer on wheels with orange cables everywhere. Came with a 5 year warranty and I’ve bought a 4 year service contract to get me to the end of that warranty period. If I’ve still got it then, it’ll be traded in for something even more complicated!

Best of both worlds is automatic gearbox that you can switch to manual.
Ok, no clutch but you can rev it like a manual (almost).
I say almost because it won't let you change down or up gear if the computer thinks you'd be going over the safe revs or too low so to stall the engine.
Almost perfect solution is Sport mode and use manual.
Auto in traffic is best.

Thanks. I had never heard of that. Apparently, they are called E-Fuels.

But the flaw I spotted is that they are only carbon neutral if renewable energy is used to produce them. And I then did a quick Google on that point and got this answer:

AI Overview

Replacing fossil fuels entirely with e-fuels would require a massive, multi-fold increase in global renewable electricity generation, with estimates suggesting the demand could be several times the world's current electricity output. The conversion of electricity into e-fuels is highly energy-intensive and inefficient, requiring 3 to 5 times more electricity than powering electric vehicles (EVs) and significantly more energy than the fossil fuel itself provides.

Oh nooo, don't feed them.. Say nowt and wait for them to go back under the bridge

(Or @ them into a separate thread that is on topic)

I've often wondered if someone will end up bringing out a many-speed manual electric vehicle, for the "purists" (ie one of those things that exists because someone wants it, not necessarily because anyone needs it)

Never say never but surely a "purist" would, first and foremost, have an ICE?

The transmission would be very much a secondary consideration?
