I think today invasions are just far less likely. In 1982 they didn't expect us to retaliate within hours in a Vulcan, they won't be so brazen again.
All it takes though is one crazy leader to decide to reclaim it.
On 2 April 1982 Argentine forces mounted amphibious landings, known as Operation Rosario

The first surprise attack on the islands, on 30 April – 1 May

All countries have had a troubled history, but the only way to have peace is to accept how things are now and work on that.
That didn't happen in 2016 though did it...

Sadly nationalism around the world is on the rise because the few can exploit those who ignorantly usually blame johnny/jane foreigner for their home grown problems...

But there's nothing like a good old war to 'unite' a nation and get a leader his/her 'Churchill/Hitler moment' ;)

As for the falklands we might as well leave it to the sheep to decide. Works in England and Wales apparently...

Obviously it does not happen all the time, that is the problem.

But we are living in the most peaceful times the world has seen for a long time. That is a good thing. Yes, there is still a lot of conflict, but at least our kids are not being sent off against their will to fight our immediate neighbours every other year.

Rule Britannia,

Britain the world's police force.

Restoring democracy around the globe since 1916.....

We're a bloody good bunch of chaps and chapettes......

We just need to ignore the whining ninnies and bed wetters. ..

Just a shame that the UK doesn't have the same 'democracy'...

Imagine if the head of state in the UK was elected...

And imagine if parliament in the UK was populated by those voted in by proportional representation...

Why doesn't the UK do it's own people the same 'favour'?
