i need to extend my doobell as i have built a porch, can i buy doorbell cable to extend the existing or should i just buy a wireless doorbell?
cheers all.

You can buy bell wire, but more or less any wire will work, thin speaker wire, alarm or telephone cable are all equally good candidates, if not better on account of having larger conductors and a more solid construction.

EDIT: Above all assumed that the bell push is extra low voltage, which they normally are.

Any scraps of cable you have knocking around the house. A scart lead, cut the ends off. A 6mm heavy duty shower cable would do the job.

now that is something i'd like to see - you trying to get 6mm cable in the terminals of a door bell push

The doorbell at my old house was wired in 2.5 which, for some reason, the previous owner of the house had stripped back to the individual cores for the majority of its length. Or at least, it was wired that way, 'till the gas fitter went through it with his core drill when fitting a new boiler.
