Dover...

what a shame Dover doesn't have more capacity for processing passports

why didn't anybody think of building more?

Oooops

they did

"UK rejects Dover funding bid for more French passport booths
Cabinet office turns down £33m proposal raising prospect of long delays for passengers from January 1"

December 16 2020

"According to a person familiar with the matter, Dover applied for £33m to double the number of French government passport booths from five to 10 in anticipation of more stringent requirements including stamps in passports after January 1."

"France is deploying 700 extra customs officers and veterinary inspectors to its Channel ports, including the entrance to the Channel Tunnel near Calais, and has spent €40m on a new IT system and handling facilities. New parking zones have been paved and set aside for trucks without the correct paperwork."

The answer is to hold an official referendum of the population of NI. Let them decide
Majority rule in N.I. was abolished 50 years ago.
Under the terms of Tony Blairs so called 'GFA' all legislation requires parallel consent from both communities.
Without the support of a majority of Unionists , this protocol violates the BA/GFA.

It made the difference because without support from Unionists the remain faction would not have got a majority.
why did it make a difference

presumably those that support being in the United Kingdom were free to vote for brexit

tough

there is no alternative to the protocol so the childish DUP better suck it up and take responsibility for what they voted for

lets be honest the deluded DUP thought there would be a land border. ...but what theyve done is the biggest boost to reunification for a lifetime

It is my belief that we should have withdrawn from the EU completely and immediately rather than remaining at least partly under their control
how would you propose that would work?

please bear in mind 40% of UK exports go to the EU -they are our largest trade partner by a country mile

for example 70% of Nissan cars are exported to EU -with out a deal, there would be 10% tariff

Where do you find this stuff Notch
Lets look at the facts.
There are 90 seats in the N.I. assembly, of those 90 seats, only 35 are Nationalist.
The percentage of the population supporting Irish nationalism has not increased in 100 years.
I posted the facts

half the population of Northern Ireland have moved on....they dont care for NI politics, they care about important stuff like economy, healthcare etc

you just dont like the fact NI is mostly pro EU

It seems that the majority of members on here are Remoaners, and do they moan!
I'm happy to debate politics and Brexit, but I see no point if 'the opposition' can do nothing but whinge and whine.
You mean you dont like people pointing out the massive failures of brexit, because you voted for it?

Your not in the UK then? I detect an EU aspect to it. In that respect you are in the UK. What it does you go along with.

please explain what control you think the EU has.
Well, they still have control over our fishing areas, our Northern Ireland connection, the fact that we have to continue to pay them to cover pensions for our ex-EU employees, effective control of our Border Farce, control of what we do by virtue of the Civil Service (and others) who support the EU in every way they can. Then there's this:

Well, thanks to BLiar we have effectively given N.I. the freedom to make its own decisions. Nothing wrong with that, I believe, but why not go the whole hog and give N.I. the right to be a completely independent country?
They can also then decide between themselves whether or not to rejoin the EU.

the fact that we have to continue to pay them to cover pensions for our ex-EU employees

let me check

you're telling me that in your opinion, our ex-employees should lose their pensions?

the UK's public servants are employed by the UK.

Your government (still headed by untrustworthy liar Johnson) sets out the laws under which they operate.

Which UK laws are you objecting to?
