Can anyone think of a logical reason why the laws in this country permit nutters to set off fireworks up to 11pm any day of the week, throughout the year?

To me it makes absolutely no sense at all.

These days it seems they're an accepted nuisance at any time that the nutters feel the urge.

When I was growing up in the 60s, firework season started on or around Halloween, bangers being thrown on the streets etc. TBH it seems less prevalent now withe organised displays being the norm

You are racist for calling them nutters  It starts about 2 weeks before diwali and it seems that the bigger the firework that you can explode in your back garden means that you have more chance to get to heaven - it must be because its crazy the size of the things you are allowed to buy - some of them are public display size.
What pizzes me off more is that the 1/4 inch square stick that launches the rocket ends up on my roof and then in my gutters

You can’t prove it’s for Diwali, just like you couldn’t prove Polish slept 50 to a room and sent all their money back home.

We got Diwali celebrations from around 18th Oct for about 6 days and mostly on 20th

But nothing like Halloween, Guy Fawkes which between them cover a month then most weekends upto Christmas.

Be glad you live in Liverpool! Think of those who are in bradford! no 11pm cutoff, but up to 2am any day of the year..

What date should fireworks be set off? Only for celebrating the arrest of some Catholic bloke over 400 years ago?

Not saying it's right or wrong, however I suspect in the coming years most fireworks as we know them today will be banned from public sale. I know that many people with pets or those who run animal sanctuary's etc say it can be a nightmare few days for the animals.

My American friends often hold a Fourth of July bbq.

I used to have a girlfriend in Coventry and mid summer they had some kind of annual celebration based around Godiva.
They had fireworks.

I get the point. I hate fireworks - there is no need for large bangs these days. There are silent fireworks.
My neighbours are a mix of Sikhs , Hindus, Muslims, Christians and presumably agnostics who like a nighttime display.
Friends have dogs and cats.

Where? In your 98% white village? Pull the other one, Liar7.
:ROFLMAO: according to the stats as of last year he had 30 Hindus in his little white village that includes children so that's about 6 families -- what a liar

There are at least 2 firework dedicated outlets around here that are open all year
