Had new buttons and a dry hip and ridge system , Im not sure about the ridge but the hip had some felt or sticky felt put on then the hip tiles on top ,I noticed today that there is flashing fitted on top of the ridge?...... don't know why.....I mean why wasn't it fitted under the ridge tiles and not on top ?
Roofer said you have to have it but he will put it underneath the ridge tiles as I told him doesn't look good , did they forget then decide to put it over the tiles?

I’m not a roofer but I’m pretty damn sure that is wrong.

Hopefully a pro will be along to advice what is the correct method

Has now been moved
It looks like it's not finished. Definitely not right - never seen another roof like that. Saturday morning is a bit slow on here, but an expert will be along before too long.

Would advise posting this in the roofing dept. though.

Well spotted

Roofers poss wont see it in GD

My roofers said you can have on top or underneath , said he's coming tomorrow put underneath.....I'm wondering if they forgot put it on then realised and thought may as well put it over the top instead.
I know the roofers put a felt strip under the hips , said it sticks one side then the hips go on , but with being at work not sure how the ridges were done

It's a dry hip/ridge system.
Different methods of finishing the junction.
There should be trays under the hip on top of the ridge roll.

Before the hips were put on all I seen was some type of felt , the roofers said it's sicky on one side then as far as I know they put hips on top.

I've re-used my old tiles , replacing any damaged ones , don't know what else is on there , I've been into the loft area and all I see is new felt.

It's called ridge roll.

AHH right.... that's what it must be , I on seen it underneath the hips , I suppose it's underneath the ridges too ?
Does the flashing only go under(even though they have put on top)where the hips and ridges meet ?.....

Ridge roll followed by hip trays to the top of the hip.
The junction between hips and ridge can be mitred together neatly, with the lead placed under the tiles at the junction and then pointed up.
Or a suitable ridge to hip plastic junction used.
