I currently have T5, with poor eyesight, I need brighter lighting. If T5 are 15mm dia, what is the next size up & what are they called.

T8 is the next size up, but they don't some in such short sizes as T5, so may not be OK for under cabinet lights, and aren't really any brighter per m than T5s

I suggest LED strips.

BAN, My sparky has just been round & he has suggested LED & that's what I am going with. Thanks

I just redid mine with LED tape, if you can solder, it works out infinitely cheaper than actual LED fittings, and they're much smaller profile

a lot of them undercounter lights were supplied with standard warm white tubes, sometimes just changing to cool white 840 lamps improves the light

The LED tape is certainly the best option, and if you want it brighter, just fit more than one strip. I normally fit 2 strips.
