Could we have a forum to discuss legal matters & consumers rights or eliminating rogue traders.

A lot of time, whether you are caring out DIY at home or buying goods, you felt you have been con but do not know what to do.

Sometimes you just wish to discuss with another person to get a broad view to confirm your suspision.

Sometimes you just want to know the legal situation so that you can decide what to do next.

A lot of older folks just ignore it and so the rogue trader get bolder & bolder.

Contractual matters is also an interesting discussion sine a lot of builder works are engaged on a so call contract

What do you all wisemen think?

Any legal boffins among you all?

Wise women also alright? ;))))

I'm not a legal boffin, but I can agree with you. I also know that there are traders/companies among us (we're one of them) who could give some important first input in these matters (sitting at the other side of the table/fence).

Hi Masona

I think Skan knows there are many sites on the web you can get info from, but I think he wants this more to be able to 'air' frustration and/or to discuss these things. Most of the info sites are static, this forum is very alive.

Oh yeah, I've read that wrong

I think it's good idea to listen to other people bad experience views and what did they do about it.

Most of these problem are in the the " General Chats " but to start another legal matters & consumers rights section to keep the forum tidy seem to be a good idea. I'm sure Diynot.com teams are always looking improvement, send them a e-mail for your idea.

I think the answer is a big NO, this is an "alive forum" but as we (the members) can only give opinions not legal advice it would not be a good idea. Also you should consider the fact that each case is individual, not to mention you would be "doing your washing in public"

you should also read item 9A here

I must admit I'm not sure now !

I think skan is not asking for advice but just people bad experience and what did they do about it. If it's asking for legals advice then I agreed with you breezer.

We are already indulging !! It is called hi-jacking posts .. after the 'experts' have condemned the poor old poster to a quivering jelly over his obvious lack of knowledge and/or totally rubbish work ... The rest of us deftly stomp over him or her in our virtual doc martens as we steer the subject off post into a textual wilderness .... Just like real life .. all talking at once mostly incoherently about several different subjects .. ego polishing alliances spring up then shatter asunder, on a simple disagreement about the relative values of for example, something as hand wringingly important as oblique spheroids and their influence on the plastered wall of today.
Community spirit reigns here, warts 'n all !!

surely we answer all the questions in this forum, based on experiance and any education, specialisms we may have. I think a legal area would be good as long as it was on the understanding that it is all unqualified advice, it may however point people in the rightdirection or give food for thought

...........

This type of forum I don't think is a good idea. You have already demonstrated a bias, there is also the cases of rogue customers they are just as bad.

Wow!!

Thanks to all who contributed & what a lively bunch of bananas.

I am glad there are so many good exchanges.
whether it be for or against such a forum.

I agree it is to air frustration & I agree just share your experiences. call it advise, call it legal, call it just hip

As long as we sensibly communicate so each can learn from the other experinces or pick their knowledge, call it anything Klinons!!

The Fair tarde & CAB are just too rigid & I feel been too official, I just want to know majority of us sane alien suffer under the rogue trader or not & we promote those trader who give good service truseworthy......?

What would you do if tomorrow I offer to sell u a David Bowie's Ray Band shade he wore in his first world tour in 1971 for only £1 because it had always brought me bad luck & I must part with it by end of 5/12/04? Do you want some advises 1st and feed back from your ..alien Klinon?

what's a klinon?
It's like a 'Klingon', but they wear 'Ray Bands' instead of our earthling 'Ray Bans' :D

I wonder if the admin team at DIYnot are regretting ever starting the 'General' forum...

I hardly ever delve into the other sections anymore!!! :p

Those glasses seem like a real good bargain...
