To pause live TV, you need to simultaneously record the live stream and playback what has been paused.
This is something USB flash drives just aren't optimised to do.
Works fine on my Samsung.
Yes there is a record button on the Sony TV. remote
I really never thought it was in the machine, assumed it was an extra.
I hate to admit I've had the machine for many years!

i have has many boxes over the years in excess off 10 boxes
i dont know about modern ones but old ones seemed to "time out" as in after say 3 or four years just stop working and not work regardless off what you do but some but not all after say 2 years unplugged would fire up again from between a short while [a few hours] or a few months
the point i am making is unless is a company selling many as refurbs with a gtee you dont know how long it will last
its worth noting iff its occasional watching then avoid recording series as there can be many dozen eppisodes that will fill the memory in a few weeks
