the number of posts is irreverant...

so competence means part p. the 5 day course so you can say you are a qualified spark...
Not on your life, a 5 day course cannot cover anything near what is expected of a qualified electrician.
You can not get "Part P", it isn't a qualification - it is part of the building regs. After a 5 day course you get a piece of paper which can go towards allowing you to join a competent person scheme which allows you to self certify compliance with the building regs via your scheme.
You do not need to have that particular piece of paper to join a competent person scheme, a lot of us on here hold over and above what is required.

well i suppose they have some paper qualifications to quantify their answers on this site...

unlike some..
RF has plenty of pieces of paper, didn't BAS do the DI course too?

I suspect many of us were members of governing bodies ( NICEIC / ECA ) before all this part p business started!

I'm not, I work for an industrial firm on the maintenance side of things so the need to join a competent person scheme hasn't arisen

so enlighten us all to the above... will you tell or have you no qualifications.

please expand all of your replies...
I have asked you what you would say if, hypothetically, I said I had none, and you went quiet.

I have asked you what you would say if, hypothetically, I said I wasn't going to tell you, and you didn't answer that.

I'll give you the chance to complete your hat-trick.

If, hypothetically, I were to say that I had lots of qualifications, what would you say then?

If you can show me where I should not have said something because of what I said, rather than who or what I may or may not be, then I'll be happy to discuss it.

why was he banned from a similar site....
Can you explain, without engaging in any ad hominem fallacies, why the reason is relevant to what I write here? If you can show me where I should not have said something because of what I said here, rather than what might or might not have happened on other sites, then I'll be happy to discuss it.

having someone profess about being competent when they will not show their competence is a bit of,,, kettle, pot and black...
Can you point to any advice I have given which I should not have done because of lack of competence?

well surely if you are not a qualified sparks, then you should not comment
Can you point to any comment I have made and produce a rational argument which shows that if I wasn't a qualified sparks I shouldn't have made it because of that, and not because of what the comment was?

let alone work in the industry......
Do you know what I do?

Can you show where I, or anybody else, should not have said something because of what they said, rather than who or what they may or may not be?

If you can then in my case I'll be happy to discuss it, and I'm sure the others would too.

So I take it you infact can not find one single example of dangerous or incorrect advice that either BAS or I have posted on this site?

Why are you obsessed with every poster on this site needing formal qualifications before they can give out safe advice?

have not looked....
Yet you seem to have a pretty firm opinion that I shouldn't be posting here.

Why is that?

Are you as irrational in everything you do?

and as i am not a qualified spark i could not......
But you've made over 40 posts in the electrical forum, all whinging about what other people (mostly me) may or may not have written, or whether they should, even though by what are apparently your own standards you shouldn't be here, and even though by your own admission you've not got any examples of bad advice.

Why is that, exactly?

read the posts and it will become evident to you......
I have, and it has become quite obvious to me, and, it appears, everyone else.

You do know that you are going to crash and burn with all this, don't you?

i am not obsessed about anything.... unlike some..
No, of course you aren't.
