I was in my local B&Q the other day picking up some cheap 16th edition CUs for eBay and spotted this:

Only 5 years out of date

And WTF does frost have to do with cable selection?

"You can do it..."

Is that a defence in court? Seriously anyone who finds that sign informative can't faffin do it.

Always worth a laugh standing in the electrical ailse at B&Q listening to how people think they should do their electrics.

Much as we hate them I have to keep an eye on their prices - my local one is better than anywhere else for MK double switched sockets - usual rip off on the rest of their range but the usual loss leader on the double sockets.

Visited one of their new so called eco-stores the other day - wind turbines on the roof; rainwater to flush the bogs etc - but still no light sensors on the lights - huge glazed atrium facing south bathed in sunlight all day but huge banks of flourescents stayed on all day.

i picked up a job in b&q, just hover, listen and politely interject. yer man had an electric shower under his arm and was measuring the diameter of a 2.5mm cable sheath and announced "yes thats 10 mil"

Local Tesco originally went eco friendly by installing a wind turbine in the carpark.
Only problem is, Seagulls didn't appear to be able to see the spinning blades and tried to fly through them, so there was blood and guts getting sprayed all across the car park

Needless to say, chicken is usually on special offer

Surely in this harmonized world phase is brown and neutral blue on T & E?

edit - oops just saw RFs comment under the pic. I'll get my coat.

Do we really care what colour when its half the price of anywhere else?(just kidding, the colours are up to date if the notice is'nt)

definitely kidding - I don't see all the electricians flooding to B&Q to buy cable

What I dont get. How is black, brown and grey easier to distinguish than blue, red and yellow??? Under poor lighting they all look the same. And brown / brown ribbed. Whats that all about?? I'm sure I can see ribs on both of 'em!
