Halogen Bulbs

I am shopping for mains downlights mainly GU10's. I came across halogen GU10. Are these bulbs dimmable. Positive feedback will be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
 
As long as the dimmer is rated to handle halogen loads up to the wattage you are loading onto it, or it can be derated by 50%.
 
Do expect to see reduced lamp life when the lamp is run at below full brilliance for sustained periods though... the halogen cycle relies on quite high temperatures to operate in the way the lamp designer intended
 
Hmm the jury's out there. I see your point.

However, dimmer manufacturers are keen to point out their products increase the life of lamps.
