

Hartlepool was last conservative in 1956. In those 65 years we have had 24yrs of labour and 41 years of Tory Government. The Government in power is the one that has the greatest impact over people lives. So they voted for change by voting for more of the same?

The alternate view is that the people of Hartlepool are satisfied with what the present Government is doing and its performance.

The problem with that is - how is the present Government able to sell "levelling up agenda" when they were essentially a major cause of their post industrial downturn.

Didn't we have a need to move away from the traditional industries and heavy industries, up and coming countries were doing it better and cheaper, we simply were not competitive. The UK grew up, matured and moved on to mostly better things.
