Height between hob and cooker hood

750 above a worktop is below eye level for anyone over 6', and in head-banging range of an awful lot. I would never want a hood lower than my height.

I get what you are saying but in the case of a flush unit cut in to the underside of a cabinet, the cabinet height becomes the thing that you will hit your head against.

Wall cabinets are not as deep as, or even deeper than, worktops.

I carefully fit mine high enough that I cannot hit my head on it. So a bit higher than I am.

I don't know why some people don't know what the word "minimum" means,

Why?

"How far away is the pub?"

"It must be a minimum of 2 or 3 miles."

That irks you?

Does "It must be at least 2 or 3 miles" also irk you?

I am installing a retractable one like this one:

So I guess I will install it at kind of pass my head level! I am 1.72m...so that distance from the floor!

Course it does. A minimum of 2 is OK, a minimum of 3 is OK. What the hell is a minimum of 2 or 3? !@#*%$

Depends ......... is it an American Mile or a British Mile?

The same as "...at least 2 or 3 miles". No need for "or 3".

Sorry, guys, I think it is very common in informal speech, when asked a question like "How long will it take to get there?" to say "I reckon at least 2 or 3 hours."

"Incorrect" it may be, but to get "irked" and sweary about it seems a tad disproportionate.

Best of luck - I've read bad reviews of how well that type of hood works.

You might be right but yes its one of those little things that you notice that are wrong and strange. I probably do some such daft things meeself but dont realise it.

PS with those symbols I was not actually attempting to symbolise swearing

I have never lived more than 150 metres from a pub.

The place I lived in until last year was so close that, before 3G phone access, the pre-N router that I installed in my loft reached the pub.
