I am researching into doing a loft conversion at my property (semi detached) and have found this forum to be very informative so thanks thus far. I do have a question though I can't seem to find an answer for. For a hip to gable loft conversion is a gable end extension (the bit of wall where sloped roof used to be) built in brick superior to one built with a timber frame? I ask as a friend is have this done and his is being built with a timber frame. I assume brick built wall would be better but just wondering what the experts think. Is there also much difference in cost?
Thanks
Mike
