How do I notify Building Control about proposed works ?

Instead of asking them what they could tell you about part p, did you ask "How do I notify you about proposed work?" ?

Seems like they answered the first question.
 
I think this leaflet is V Good, tells you what you want to know. it's a shame information like this is not more readily available.

The leflet answers this question but doesn't mention being thrown into clink for breaking the law?
