most people I would have thought, tho big companys still have sparks to fit the sparky bits for insurance reasons.

With wireless controls getting more popular sparks wont be needed on most installs.

Yes. Any electrical work necessary to complete the install.
Why would I want a sparky to come and mess it up.

Seen an oil combi boiler heating an unvented cylinder
replaced because it was wired
wrong. Nothing wrong with it.

Just heating engineer and sparky didn't have the joint
knowledge to do it right.

Customer had to pick up the tab.

Wouldn't you need to comply with Part P though when wiring the wireless stat to the FCU?

How could a RGI comply with that?

RF stats don't get connected to FCU.
They are usually wired directly to the boiler.

I knew you would bite.

How many sparks understand a Y-Plan... everyone I have had to work with just look at you with this blank impassive gaze. Must be having all those pretty coloured wires to think about.... and no i am not anti-sparkies. I get on great with my regular.

Wouldn't let him wire a heating system though .

Dont think you are superior, thats very dangerous, none of us are special.

Go on then Vic What are the 5 wires and what do you connect to what lets all have a laugh !!!

Why would peole laugh if I told them what the 5 wires of a mid position valve did (not that they are conform to the same wiring), but of course you know this.

Dont see many peole confirming that they do their own electrical work?

Why because the HSE would have a field day with this website.

Anyone brave enough to add their name to the list, or are you just going to have a go at sparks, because one couldnt wire up a oil fired boiler, once!

Do all mine always have since apprenticeship days when it was legal and as well as wiring every type of heating system we done full house wiring but i`m always lucky as there is always a fused spur right beside where i need it.

I wonder how Vic would get on wiring up an OCB?

Tony

If you can find a sparky that understands control wiring then they have specialised, most wouldent have a clue and are quite happy to leave it to the "plumbers", you a sparky vicrub ?
