How's my CU looking?

if you look round the internet on company sites, as their promo stuff.... you can find many shocking installations of CU's.

That is shocking:S where did you find that?.. all the government fuss over part p.. and this kinda thing still goes on in the trade.

Wires a complete mess
No Dual RCD Protection, or RCBOs on individual circuits.
Missing Busbar by the looks of things.. or could just be hidden.
No Busbar protection/cover
Isolator not even wired up properly by the looks of things.
MCBs not in size order.
No Incoming Feed
Neutral Wire that appears to go nowhere..above that 16amp MCB
Spare MCBs, not connector to anything should be blanked off.

Overall looks half finished.

It's probably a mock up board.
On the non-RCD side - how do you know there are any concealed cables less than 50mm from the surface? If there aren't any or it is under the supervision of a skilled or instructed person then RCD protection isn't required.
What's wrong with having empty MCBs :?
Neutral wire going to nowhere? Do you mean the big one that goes from the RCD to the bus bar at the top left?
Certainly not the neatest job in the world but how can anyone write an incomplete consumer unit off without a supply as unsafe?

dont know if it is a mock up board lol.. followed the link where the image is being taken from.. and its some DIY site... rather than a companies own promotional image as far as I can see.

Nothings wrong with empty MCBs, just they serve no purpose being there and its neater if blanked off lol more of a matter of personal oppionion rather than regulations i guess.

Nope, dont mean that one.. mean the one dead in the centre of the consumer unit.

didnt write it off as unsafe because I came to the conclusion it was half finished, just pointing out things wrong in the image, and the fact it is really untidy.

Wires a complete mess
I'm sure we've all seen much worse.

No Dual RCD Protection, or RCBOs on individual circuits.
Do you know that the photo is of a board in place OR A TIME when this is/was required?

Missing Busbar by the looks of things.. or could just be hidden.
Or maybe the photo was taken at a stage when the job was only half finished?

No Busbar protection/cover
Pointless if there's not busbar installed because the job was only half finished.

Isolator not even wired up properly by the looks of things.
In what way?

MCBs not in size order.
True - one out of the ten installed is in the wrong place.

No Incoming Feed
Maybe because the thing is only half finished?

Overall looks half finished.
Don't let that stop you critiquing it as if it were finished though...

How do you blank off MCBs?

Nope, dont mean that one.. mean the one dead in the centre of the consumer unit.
So is it that you don't mean that spare MCBs, not connected to anything, should be blanked off, but that unused positions should be blanked off rather than fitted with MCBs which are not connected to anything?

A bit like those two positions in the middle where for all you know the cover which you cannot see and therefore cannot comment on has blank covers?
