If there was ever a reason to bring back corporal punishment

What I find unbelievable is that Crimewatch now decide to appeal for witnesses, Almost 11 months after it happened. Why can't the police liaise with the Crimewatch producers and get these crimes on TV the week after they happen? Whilst it's fresh in potential witnesses memories.
Time for corporal punishment to be re-introduced, perhaps in the form of a blunt knife and a vasectomy with no anaesthetic, for these sort of crimes.

I can't understand that as well. I think one of the reasons is that plod would like to solve it themselves without having to ask us , the public. When it's obvious they can't , then they ask us for help as a last resort. However when one of their own gets hurt , the first thing they do is ask the public for help!!
