Investment

What good does it do a company if you buy its shares then sell them a day later at a profit?
Many will buy and sell a stock on its upward trend. The demand fuels the demand and the company benefits from increasing its market capital.

Shorting hurts the company and costs jobs. Sometimes the shorters lose their shirts. TSLA shorters famously lost billions shorting it, during its pre-growth period.

None.

Did you think it would?

It could. The 'markets' can, and do, cause a lot of trouble for people, for companies, and for entire countries. It makes me laugh when anyone claims to be an ethical stock market investor rather than just a greedy chancer! Justin, at least, doesn't claim to be ethical.

I suppose I had better ask this question as it has long been on my mind. What is the motivation to continue once you have accumilated a massive wealth? I always thought it was the chase getting there that was the excitement, once you are there what is left?

It's something I've never understood. My whole goal in life was to have enough to retire early and enjoy the money. I worked with CEO a few years back, who was in the mid 100 millions, who knew he had terminal cancer. He stopped working a week before he died. I think he was trying to leave a legacy.

Most people have an idea of what they would do with just a bit more. That probably applies to the super rich too.

There is always a bigger boat in the marina.

Mindset. I know a millionaire, he retired at 40 odd and goes skiing a few times a year. He enjoys his money and life.

I know plenty of people with more who keep going and aren’t happy. It’s mindset imho.

Some people are greedy, some do it for a buzz. Some want a “magic” number.
