Hi so just bought a Ryobi cordless angle grinder and went online to order spare blades and it seems like they are all 115mm with a few 125mm, have I ordered wrong, just for general diy cleaning metal handrail car repairs ?
Thanks

You may be able to use smaller discs

Blup

I use the 125 mm grinder it’s fine
Quite a few 125mm discs on amazo
FFX Screwfix toolstation
I think I got all mine via amazon in the end

You can put small disks on

As you use the grinder the discs wear down anyway
Cutting 22 14mm bolts soon reduces the diameter

Just that the shield may need position changing

Aldi have 125mm discs of all types on offer quite often, the reason i know, i bought a few sets not checking the size, my grinders are 115mm:oops:

They will usually fit in the blade guards though, I often use 125mm discs in 115mm grinders
They just touch the guard on mine, especially the flap discs, but i bought a universal 125mm guard for about £8 and they work fine with that.

I used some erbauer 125mm discs on my 115mm Bosch - sparks for the first few seconds then all good!

invest in a diamond blade for it, much faster cutting, blade doesn't change diameter, I would guess 90% less dust, and probably a lot cheaper as the blade just lasts and lasts.

I like the diamond blades but did once use them to cut through stainless steel rods. I then discovered that the heat generated messes up the thread. I should have used the super thin Inox type blades.

As others have said, 125mm are available (SFX stock them, TS only carry one disc a DW thin cutting disc - also try Amazon), but the range in 115mm will be greater simply because it's been a popular size for a long, long time. In any case for handrail cleaning you might be better off with steel brushes to begin with, although flap wheels and fibre discs (which generally require a backing pad) are both useful for finishing (and can also be had in 125mm., although a specialist abrasives supplier might be the best bet).

One thing I will say, from experience, is don't expect stellar battery life - grinders, particularly brushed-motor models, drain batteries quite quickly. I have a Makita 115mm cordless, the most basic brushed motor version, which at times I simply can't do without, but it does eat the amps at quite a rate. I doubt your Ryobi will be any better, but it doesn't stop it being a very handy piece of kit
