Is this lot compliant?

As it is notifiable under part p of the building regs then they should get something through about it I'd expect. Not 100% sure who sends it, others will know better than me.

With NAPIT you notify the scheme on line and they do the rest, I believe that the other schemes do the same.

If the circuit is not protected by RCD it has to be:

1) In metal earthed conduit .
2) Cable with earthed metallic covering to BS8436, BS5467 etc.
and few more options this you can find in BS7671-2008 regulations: 522.6.5 and 522.6.6
But this is a socket circuit...

Surely thats not the work of an NICEIC approved contractor?

I agree and think that no one of the members of a competent person scheme would make a mistake with the forms, in a job like this it is obvious the kind of certificate required.

But this is a socket circuit...

So? still have to comply with 522.6.5/6. The accepted hight of sockets is 450 to 1200mm, unless the cable is clipped direct it has to get somehow to the point of connection in the wall.

I imagine that BAS is pointing out that, as a socket circuit, it has to be RCD protected in any case. And therefore doesn't need the other protection in a safe zone.

Yup - basically it went like this:

lazygit: "The non-kitchen sockets should be on an RCD regardless of being wired in earthed metal conduit"

Albert: Stuff about what you have to do if it's not RCD protected, which I read as trying to say that it could be OK for it not to be. (Apologies if I got that wrong.)

Me: Pointing out that as it's a BS1363 socket circuit there are no circumstances in which it's OK for it not to be RCD protected...

Yep, it seems that we agree...and sorry if I was not clear in my post

[columbo] Just one more thing that's been bothering me.

On the certificate it lists that the MCB is a BS(EN)60898 type, and the RCD is a BS(EN)61009 type.

A BS(EN)61009 device is an RCBO, so one of these two boxes is also filled in incorrectly.[/columbo]

I think that RCD is BS61008, correct me if I am wrong...

Yep, I think you're right, BS EN 61008. Also, judging by the big symbol on the front of it that it an AC type RCD too.

Nope, but some of the ones I see are type A.
More to the point, there is no reason as to why he hasn't filled in the RCD type box on the certificate.

Thanks for all the comments..I suspect that due to the dates (ie the job may have been spec'd/quoted before the 17th came into force) there may be "getouts" regarding some of the infringements although it was hardly installed with the customers well being in mind.
