Is this the right way to batten around a window?

Hi all,

I'm currently battening out a thermalite block wall so I can install XPS tile backer/plasterboard. The walls and inside of the window frame will ultimately be tiled.

I will soon need to batten around the window, but I just wanted to double check I am doing it correctly.

Do I just simply run the battens level with the existing blocks in the window frame as seen in my photos?

We'd frame the window with timber so that the corners are supported.
