Hi Guys,

I am having real trouble trying to locate a place to get the type of bolts pictured (tried the usual B&Q, Wickes, Screwfix etc etc). I cannot even google them - probably calling them the wrong thing?.

They are used on my teak garden chairs to allow them to collapse. Many of them have broken and therefore need replacing. The outer part is breaking due to the bolt not being long enough - it is snapping at that point.

The width of the outer part (nut?) is 7mm.

The closest I have seen is the joint connectors used to connect kitchen cabinets and the like together, but these are obviously too small.

Could someone point me in the right direction - are they called Joint Connectors?

Thanks

Adam.

If anyone does source these, then please let me know - I've been idly googling away on and off to no avail. It's starting to become obsessional now

make them a round headed bolt a bit of tube to make a sleeve and a nut

they must be something only available in Asia somewhere - the place I got the furniture from have it shipped over from Thailand - or somewhere similar.

They have gone out of business now (probably the same place as the guy in the other post linked to above).

I think a bit of thinking out of the box is going to be required!

Maybe they went out of business since they couldn't get hold of any more of those bl**dy bolts

Found this: http://www.fkmoore.com/zencart/documents/Catalogue.pdf

check out p23 - similar/same things - interscrews, although the fact they are for brochures, catalogues, menus, swatches, I doubt they are very strong.

On p12 there are machine screws that could be with the cup washers and dome nuts on the following page - the dome nuts could be used on the inner-side of the seat to prevent catching on clothing etc.??

Indeed - I am kicking myself as when one did go, they were still in business and got it replaced (still under warranty) - thinking that they were a common fixing, I didn't think of getting a world supply - DOH!

Suppose you could use some dome nuts on pg 13 on a piece of threaded rod cut to size (maybe in some sleeving), or on one end of a coach bolt?

What's really annoying about those brass bolts is that I'm sure I've seen them on something newish recently

You might try specialist stationery supplies, they are used to hold spines together on large volume books while allowing pages to be added easily.
