Fingers crossed they can keep this ceasefire going to release all the hostages and bring an end to this latest phase of Insanity.
The only thing preventing a full scale resumption to all out destruction of Gaza is the hostages still held by Hamas.
  • Talks are continuing on another potential extension of the pause in fighting in Gaza, but Israel’s leaders continue to promise that the Israeli army plans to resume the war.

People held in several institutions have reported severe beatings, denial of medical attention, lawyer and family visits, yard time, electricity, water, and hygiene essentials from the prison shop.

At least six Palestinian prisoners died or were killed in Israeli custody since October 7, including some shortly after their arrest.

Over the same days that it (Israel) released some 150 Palestinian detainees, Israel arrested 133 people, nearly as many, from the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem, according to Palestinian prisoner associations. Since October 7, Israel carried out 3,290 arrests in the same areas, which it has occupied since 1967.

All very 'interesting' - but does he think Israel is justified in carrying on it's assault on Hamas in the Gaza strip?
Do you?
Andrew Lawrence does make an easily refutable comment.
He claims that 'Progressives' (whatever they are) are allowed to "spout any amount of noxious despicable shyte without being cancelled" (1:23)
In my experience it's the Israeli supporters that are being given airtime to "spout their......", while anyone arguing against the Israeli conduct is 'moved on' by the interviewer.
Last night's QT was a perfect example where Andrew Neil was given airtime to spout his hate-filled diatribe, but anyone arguing against the Israel conduct was cut short by Fiona or others.

Andrew Lawrence is a ****ing idiot.

Guardian analysis of satellite imagery of the northern Gaza Strip in the aftermath of heavy bombardments has identified more than 1,000 craters visible from space within approximately 10 square kilometres.

In one area – just half a kilometre wide – a group of residential blocks has been bombed so severely that about 100 craters, some as large as 45ft (13.9m), are visible.

Three Israelis killed by two members of Hamas yesterday.
The Hamas members were themselves killed.
They must have known that their chances of survival were virtually nil.
How do you defeat people who aren't afraid of death.

The BBC and other western media have long ago given up any pretence of impartiality towards the Israel/Palestine conflict.
The only thing missing now, is an official declaration of war on Palestine by the government.
That way they can legally suppress free speech in the name of state security and protection of the public from 'enemy propaganda'.

The only thing missing now, is an official declaration of war on Palestine by the Zionists...

The defence minister seemed so certain on Monday that the truce would not last much longer, that he even specified how the renewed attacks would unfold: “They will first meet the bombs of the air force, and after that the shells of the tanks and the artillery and the paws of the D9 [armoured bulldozers], and finally the shooting of the infantry fighters.”

The Israeli military has long been advocating for the continuation of war. On Wednesday I explained the thinking of the army’s general staff: unless they are told that the war is over, they assume it is not. Thus, they prefer to continue it as soon as possible, to get it over with as soon as possible, preferably without any stoppages that create indecision and weaken morale.

It is now clear that despite his notorious political wiliness, Netanyahu will have to face responsibility not just for the failure to prevent the intelligence humiliation and security calamity of October 7, but also for his stubborn insistence on politically divisive judicial reforms at all costs, despite warnings that it would harm the country. The writing on the wall is that Israel will finally rid itself of Netanyahu as soon as the war is over.

Analysis@Al Jazeera

The Israel economy is taking a pounding. Netanyahu needs this war to continue as long as possible, and that's going to destroy the Israel economy.
Prof. Bental said he expects the economic impact of the war to be “very grave” and unlike anything Israel has experienced in decades.
Israel has now borrowed more than $8 billion since the start of the war with Gaza, causing the budget deficit to balloon to $6 billion.

There's a shortage of workers because they're now in the military, the tourism and hospitality industry has collapsed.
Even the withdrawal of Palestinian work visas has affected the economy.
The enlisted reservists need paying,

Of course the Palestinian economy has been affected, but they'll be getting massive international aid when the dust settles.
And their economy frequently gets trashed.

Netanyahu wants the war to continue as long as possible.
Prior to the 7 October attack thousands of reservisst were threatening to refuse to serve under a Netanahu govenrment.

Netahyahu's pursuit of Zionist desires might yet prove to be Israel's downfall.

It's certainly possible Netanyahu will be challenged for leadership of Likud when the dust and debris finally settles over Gaza, but Filly B. has pointed out that Benny Gantz taking control might not be for the best. There are no good options that i can see at this moment.
