Hi all

My 1st post with a general question I hope someone can help..

I am currently doing my kitchen out and i need to move the main cooker switch over about 1 metre from where it is now as the hob will be going in its place, I know the 6mm twin earth needs to be moved too so i will do this while the ceiling is down etc.

I am going to install a new 2 gang knockout and a 45A Cooker switch with socket and neon light but i do not know how deep i need the knockout to be will 35mm or 47mm be ok ?? or what do you guys recommend as i have not seen how deep these switches are and how much room there is for wiring etc.

It is going into a block wall and i have a 4 1/2 grinder and a diamond cutting wheel and hammer chisel to do the job

Thanks

Leigh

47's better. Teminating a couple of 6mm T&E's in a 35 can be a bit of a pain, and lead to faults if you squash the cables in too hard.

47mm deep is the norm for cooker isolators etc.

I take it your house is emptied of all soft furnishings if you are going for it with your grinder

Cheers for the quick reply's guys

I will use a 47mm knockout then, As for the grinder yes kitchen will be sealed off and to be honest the rest of the house is a bombsite at the moment i just finished doing the 2 bathrooms out, I also need to run some channels up the wall to run cables etc so there will be plenty of mess.
