hi,

i would like to install four 30w led floodlights outside.
there is a switched fused spur i can use and replace
with timeswitch but i would also
like a pir operating all the lights.
so can i simply have an l n and e connection going into the pir and then the same going into first light and then out to second light
etc etc or do i need a junction box after the pir?

regards

30W LED floodlights are very bright.

Are you illuminating a football field, or trying to annoy your neighbours?

Or some other reason that I have missed?

maybe not depends on actual light output ...not wattage

Your scheme is valid (presumably you have a football field to light) but you'll probably need a junction box below each light (the cable glands will only accept one cable) so your schematic would be LNE from timeswitch to PIR then LNE to T junction box- LNE in, LNE to lamp, LNE out- then next lamp T junction box LNE in, LNE to lamp, LNE out- and so on. With this setup the PIR will NOT override the timeswitch (TBH the timeswitch will be redundant if the PIR is set up properly)

Been broken into and had basically no light outside so want to improve the situation.

And you want very bright lights because?

So the next low life’s can see what they are doing when they break in.

It can be done, but why?

A timer activates the lights at preset times.
A PIR activates the lights only when it's dark and movement is detected.
