logical step for Labour is to reverse Brexit

It was foolish to have such a major constitutional change decided by such a small margin

But if such a small margin was allowed to turn left, it cannot be denied to turn right.

However, the number of surviving Brexers is now very much smaller than 49%

A much more difficult problem would be to persuade the 27 nations that UK is not a barmy timewaster. Expect a very long process and a very long probation.

For now, regaining access to the Single Market is a hard enough ambition. It would be a huge step in repairing the damage to our country that the Brexers caused.
Requiring a substantial majority for change otherwise we stay, would not have been democratic. Perhaps the referendum could have been used to better guide the leave arrangements? But that is history.

Any join campaign has to be honest about the terms of the deal, we’d get.

I think the EU may morph in to something we can be closer aligned to, but it is unlikely that any party with a chance of being elected will include a join the EU pledge.

a referendum for something so complex was a stupid idea

9 years later and still 95% of brexit supporters are clueless about the EU, probably lots of remain voters as well

Brexit debate was reduced to meaningless emotive slogans

effectively the result was a 50 / 50 coin toss, slightly biased towards leave because of the misleading emotive slogans - so a super majority should have been used

referendums are suitable for simple moral decisions like legalising abortion, not highly complex subjects

Lets see them then- otherwise you made it up.
why are you so bothered -apparently you arent a Reform supporter

and yes I can provide them.............in the mean time, you can do the research yourself, if you care about the future of this country you would want to (if you even live in the UK, which is highly unlikely)

Which was part of the "black hole" and they have come back for more as predicted.
whataboutery

public sector pay rises mean those people are better off not "far worse off as was claimed"

Leading to more unemployment and inflation
employment rate is up from the first half of 2024 when Conservatives were in power

Which they have just reversed on
not true

the workers rights bill included a number of items

they have only partly reversed the right to protection from being sacked without a reason from 0 to 6 months

Result - increased rents
not necessarily

-do you not support greater protections for renters -like ending no fault evictions?

perhaps you might like to comment whether you think people should have secure homes to live in and not be worried about sectoin 21 eviction notices coming at any time?

Due to more people leaving the country.
I am sorry you are incorrect

the numbers of people leaving the country has remained static for each year from 2022

"that nearly 99% of UK public expenditure was under direct UK government control."

So we retained more that 50% of domestic policy and laws. Ouch.
vast majority of domestic laws were not impacted by EU membership

13% of Acts and Statutory Instruments had an EU influence -but most of those had no impact on UK domestic law AND those EU laws were negotiated with 73 UK MEPS having an influence

most of the laws have been retained since we left -because theres not benefit in changing

brexit has not made Uk having control of 100% of laws -we are party to a raft of International laws and international regulations

poor Filly thinks Brexit means the UK can do what it like on everything
