Long live Boris

There are 5.3 million on out-of-work benefits. I've not been on the dole for about 20 years, and back then it was about £50 a week. I don't know what it is now, but let's say a round figure of £75 a week. That's a conservative estimate I'm sure, but at that, it's nearly £400 million a week, or £20 billion a year. Stop the cash payments and give them soup. Then you've got all the payments to foreign countries, and on rubbish like HS2. I'd have the debt down in no time and then we could keep all our own money to do something good with.
What's wrong with HS2? Drugs can move faster between London and Manchester, saving half an hour and bypassing the ANPR on the M1/M6!!

In that case, save the money and give everyone a speedball at Euston and let them loose...

quite funny all the labour supporters laughing about boris leaving its the worst thing that could happen for labour they would have walked it if he had stayed as Pm

..in disgrace. Hilarious actually.

Most are relieved to see the idiot gone. But you do have a valid point. They'll just appoint another greedy UK withering idiot.

what's right with HS2??? I cannot see a thing!

In my opinion - it's a symbol of Labour jealousy, stupidity; goes from the wrong station to the wrong city. it should have gone from St. Pancras to Edinburgh with a link into HS1. Add links to the cities of South Yorks, Manchester and Liverpool and we would have a network for the future rather the hotch potch we have now.

Conveniently forgetting that Manchester is the fastest growing major city north of London followed by Birmingham, then. Only a Yorkshireman would put forward such a ridiculous suggestion. Exactly how much trade would a link to Edinburgh actually generate?

But then Yorkshire is still bitter about not getting HS2 any longer despite the massive number of NIMBYs along the suggested Yorkshire route

The best thing about HS2 has been the discoveries made by archaeological teams called in when they find artifacts along the route. From plague pits in London to Anglo-Saxon grave mounds it's been a real boost to understanding our past.
