The best way to deal with Taleban was non military as the Taleban would just disperse when fighting a cohesive army unit - either revert to guerilla tactics or lie low and wait for the occupying forces to retreat.

They are not playing to the same rules or objectives as the US. Look at how the US and Russia got mired in Vietnam and Afghanistan.

The only solution is offer investment like we did post war, but not on terms that just creates a country of serfs drowing in debt - that neo liberal free market approach does not work either.

They could have rebuilt Afghanistan for a lot less than they have spent on military campaign.

The Taleban will only be stopped by the Afghanis and only by them if they have something worth defending and developing. The US pull out and the options left to the Afghanis is a) fight the Taleban for whats left b) live under the Taleban and make a meagre exisstence.
